OUR ANIMALS

Why Heritage Breeds

Our sheep don't fit into the industrialized agriculture system and neither do we. As members of the Livestock Conservancy we are dedicated to the propagation and preservation of endangered breeds who have been cast aside because of their natural color and wild instincts. While some might say our breeds are unruly and inconsistent, we prefer to see them as survivors with fleece that can inspire adventurous artists.

JACOB SHEEP

Jacob sheep originated from Syria and became a popular "park sheep" in England in the mid 1700s thanks to their beautiful spotted fleece, incredible horns, and their primitive hardiness

Icelandic

The Icelandic Sheep's dual coat and natural colors make them a fantastic addition to a spinners flock. These sheep grow their fleece twice as fast as our other breeds.

CVM

The California Variegated Mutant is a larger sheep with a range of colors. CVM genetics entered our flock when a ram jumped the fence and bred one of our Jacobs. The result was Ruthie, a CVM x Jacob cross.

BIRDS AND THE BEES

Our apiary, flower gardens, and vegetable gardens all attract pollinators that make our ecosystem strong

SILVOPASTURE

We choose to keep trees in the pasture with our sheep to provide natural shade and biodiversity for a high quality life for the sheep and a higher quality fleece from the sheep.
